Tropical Smoothie

At Mana Juice Bar in Kona we called this smoothie the Hawaiian Honey. This smoothie recipe is sweet and creamy with banana, pineapple and mango blended with creamy coconut milk and honey.

Hawaiian Honey

This is the perfect smoothie when you need a refreshing boost of energy. We added Hawaiian Spirulina which is a potent source of nutrients and  plant-based protein. The spirulina is optional and this is a delicious smoothie with or without it.

This is my go to smoothie when I have a sweet tooth. The sweet and creamy consistency is better than a milk shake and waaaay better for you.

To make this smoothie you want to use frozen fruit. I recommend freezing bananas when they are nice and brown on the outside and still yellow on the inside for the sweetest flavor.

Ingredients

  • Frozen Mango Chunks
  • Frozen Pineapple Chunks
  • Frozen Banana
  • Coconut Milk
  • Honey
  • Spirulina (optional)

The Process

Get out your blender and plug it in, it’s smoothie time!

Layer 1 cup of frozen mango chunks, 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks and half of a banana in the blender.

Pour in coconut milk to almost cover the fruit. Now squeeze in a couple teaspoons of honey in the center of the blender so it doesn’t get stuck on the sides.

Cover the blender with the lid. Turn the blender setting on low and turn it on. Gradually increase the speed and continue to blend on high until the smoothie is nice and…. smooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • ½ large frozen banana
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1-2 tsp Hawaiian Spirulina optional

Instructions

  • Layer all ingredients, in order, in the blender pitcher.
  • Secure the lid.
  • Start blender on low and gradually increse to high and blend until smooth.
  • Enjoy!
